Are you as good a business person as you would like to be?

Every successful business person continues learning and improving themselves throughout their lives. If you have not taken some actions today to improve YOU, then you are not growing.

One way to achieve this is to allow someone to help you succeed in business.

Business mentors and coaches

Have you ever wondered why some sport teams and some individual sportsmen do so well while many simply fade into obscurity despite obvious talent? Don't make the same mistake in business ... let someone look at your business game and show you the business equivalent of keeping your head down, swinging through the ball, and improving other areas of your game plan. You may be very surprised how with a few minor adjustments, your business game will rise to a new level. As a business owner, you probably just did things your way up to now. Not realising that a business mentor could go a long way to helping you up the level of your business.

It is so easy to allow yourself to settle into a comfortable groove. Sure, "comfortable' in this context may even be extremely uncomfortable - but the point is that if you stop doing what you've always done and do things differently, you'll land up with different results.

If you don't want different results, then there is little that business mentor can help you with initially, other than to re-create that passion, that fire, that idealism, that sense of independence - or whatever it was that caused you to get into business in the first place.

Some people may even feel that asking for a mentor is some sort of admission of failure. Now, this is a strange one for me. Does this mean that Tiger Woods is a failure because he has a golf coach? Clearly it is saying, instead, "I am here to win and I will use every legal means to do so." A business mentor is like a coach, looking over your shoulder at your business golf swing.

So what does a business mentor actually do? For one thing, a mentor will expect you to do the hard work. Imagine a boxer (Rocky, in the movie) running along, shadow boxing. The boxing coach is not doing the work. He is not doing the training himself. He is instead, on the side line (on his bicycle), doing a different kind of work. Assessing, measuring , suggesting, proposing tactics, pushing for greater effort or different styles - supporting, encouraging, motivating, building a vision. A business mentor is not there to DO your work. A business coach is there to show you how to become more effective as a business owner, supporting YOU. But keeping you non-dependent.

Are you ready to take the next step - to move your business and yourself up a notch or two? Arrange a confidential, no obligation discussion with one of our experienced business mentors by clicking here.

This could be the single most significant decision you've made this past year. What do you have to lose? At the most, an hour or so of your time. And if you don't spend this hour, you'll never know what could have been. Have a no obligation discussion with a business mentor and determine whether business mentoring will take you as a business owner to the next level.
